How to Mask an Image in Figma

One of the first things I learned in Figma was how to mask images.

Masking in Figma is simple, and quick. Follow the steps below to learn how to mask your own image.

1. Choose your desired image for the mask, and select the shape you would like to mask within.

2. Lay the selected shape over the top of the image (take into consideration the area of the image you would like to capture in the mask). Make sure once you have positioned the mask, you position the layer beneath your chosen image.

3. Select both the image and the underlying shape, then select the mask icon on the top of Figma.

4. After your image has been masked to your desired shape, select both layers and group them.
